Synthetic biology as a technology sits under the umbrella of being a tool for mass ecological, positive change. It is often publicised as a science that will 'save the world' through its impact: curing the incurable, ending poverty and ridding the world of it's biological flaws. But what about addressing our emotional needs? on a more one to one scale.
The plant that is 'me' is designed to grow less organically overtime and appear much more mechanical, more modernist. Through generations the leaves will adopt several mutations of graphic patterns and geometric structures, ridding the plant of it's traditional 'green' organic routes. The plant will behave according to my characteristics and react to my once likes and dislikes.
I sent a video camera (Memorial Cam) to my mother over the course of 1 week and asked her to talk to the plant as if it was my bio-present self. The bio-reactions are the result of those conversations.
